Swedish

The main purpose of Swedish massage is to increase the oxygen flow in the blood and release toxins from the muscles. Swedish massage shortens recovery time from muscular strain by flushing the tissues of lactic acid, uric acid, and other metabolic wastes. It increases circulation without increasing heart load. It stretches the ligaments and tendons keeping them supple and pliable. Swedish Massage also stimulates the skin and nervous system and soothes the nerves themselves at the same time. It reduces stress, both emotional and physical.

Deep Tissue

Deep Tissue Massage addresses deeper layers of muscle tissue. It aims to release patterns of tension through slow strokes and deep pressure, either following or going across the fibers of the muscles, fascia, tendons and ligaments to relieve painful trigger points: Breaks down adhesion for overuse or injury. A true pain reliever.

Shiatsu

Shiatsu is a Japanese word. It means ‘finger pressure’. It is based on the acupuncture system. A Shiatsu treatment does however incorporate the use not only of finger pressure, but also thumbs, palms, knees, forearms, elbows and feet. Pressure is applied to the areas of energy lines (meridians) to promote good health by 'stimulating the body’s energy flow (Ki)'.

NeuroMuscular Therapy (NMT) is designed to relieve pain by balancing the central nervous system with the structure and form of the musculoskeletal system, correcting the neuromuscular pain components of: 1) Ischemia - lack of blood and oxygen flow. 2) Trigger Points-localized areas within muscle bellies may include pain, tingling, numbness, itching or other sensations. 3) Neural interferences -(compression/entrapment by myofascial tissues)producing muscle contraction and pain impulses. 4) Postural and biomechanical dysfunctions - altered postural positioning due to tense ,shortened, bunched, fatigued muscles. 5) Nutritional factors - nutritional deficiencies/imbalances, sensitivities, allergies and stimulants all play roles in myofascial health. 6) Emotional wellbeing - the degree and type of the emotional and stress loads the individual is carrying can influence various systems of the body.
